Ergens in de krochten van Breda broedt een infectie. Geen griepje, geen simpele verkoudheid… Dit is iets besmettelijkers. Alternative rock, krautrock, spacerock, psychedelica, hardcore en punk kruipen door de gangen van De Nieuwe Veste en zoeken een gastwezen. Het slachtoffer ben jij.

In samenwerking met BUT Film Festival organiseren we een muzieknacht die je bloedbaan binnendringt en niet meer loslaat. Onderdeel van Simply The Fest, tijdens dit jaar’s BUT Film Festival. Drie bands, drie invalshoeken, één en dezelfde koorts.

Let op! De infectie vindt plaats bij De Nieuwe Veste, Sint Janstraat 16, midden in het centrum van Breda. Deze muziekavond vindt dus niet bij Poppodium Phoenix zelf plaats.

Ratsmack

Ratsmack uit Rotterdam speelt alternative rock waarin melodieuze hooks, ruige gitaren en donkere ondertonen samenkomen. De band beweegt moeiteloos tussen alternative rock, noisepop en punk, zonder ooit de vaart te verliezen. Het ene moment bouwen ze spanning op, het volgende moment barst alles wagenwijd open.

Hun liveshows draaien op dynamiek: stuwende ritmes, rauwe vocalen en messcherpe gitaarriffs worden afgewisseld met melodieuze passages die net genoeg adempauze bieden voordat de volgende explosie toeslaat.

FROG!

FROG! is een instrumentaal viertal uit Mechelen dat moeiteloos beweegt tussen krautrock, spacerock, post-rock, psychedelica en punk. De band bouwt geduldig lange, hypnotiserende composities op waarin stuwende ritmes, repetitieve grooves en explosieve uitbarstingen elkaar voortdurend voeden.

Hun muziek wordt niet geboren in de studio, maar op het podium. Nummers evolueren over jaren van repetities en liveoptredens, tot ze precies die rauwe energie vastleggen waar de band naar op zoek is. Dat is wat je hoort op Live in Brussels: FROG! zoals het bedoeld is — hard, meeslepend en volledig levend in het moment.

SEXTC

SEXTC is een viergehoofd beest uit België dat hardcore, punk en shoegaze samensmelt tot een intense en onvoorspelbare liveperformance. Wat begon na één bijzonder wilde nacht, groeide uit tot een band die volledig gaat voor energie, urgentie en totale fysieke overgave.

Met verzengende gitaren, beukende ritmes en een frontman die zich met kop en al in het publiek stort, houdt een SEXTC-show nooit afstand. Hun muziek balanceert tussen melodie en chaos, controle en volledige ontlading, zonder ooit in te leveren op intensiteit.

Somewhere in the depths of Breda, an infection is brewing. Not a common cold… Something far more contagious. Alternative rock, krautrock, spacerock, psychedelia, hardcore and punk creep through the halls of De Nieuwe Veste, looking for a host. That host is you.

In collaboration with BUT Film Festival, we organize a music night that gets into your bloodstream and doesn’t let go. Part of Simply The Fest, at this year’s BUT Film Festival. Three bands, three different angles, one and the same fever.

Be aware! The infection takes place at De Nieuwe Veste, Sint Janstraat 16, in Breda City Centre. This festival does not take place at Poppodium Phoenix.

Ratsmack

Ratsmack from Rotterdam plays alternative rock where melodic hooks, gritty guitars and dark undertones come together. The band effortlessly moves between alternative rock, noisepop and punk without ever losing sight of momentum. One moment they’re building tension, the next everything bursts wide open.

Their live shows thrive on dynamics: driving rhythms, raw vocals and razor-sharp guitar riffs are balanced by melodic passages that offer just enough breathing space before the next explosion hits.

FROG!

FROG! is an instrumental four-piece from Mechelen effortlessly moving between krautrock, spacerock, post-rock, psychedelia and punk. The band patiently builds long, hypnotic compositions where driving rhythms, repetitive grooves and explosive outbursts continuously feed into one another.

Their music isn’t born in the studio but on stage. Songs evolve over years of rehearsals and live performances until they capture exactly the raw energy the band is after. That’s what you’ll hear on Live in Brussels: FROG! exactly as intended — loud, immersive and completely alive in the moment.

SEXTC

SEXTC is a four-headed beast from Belgium, fusing hardcore, punk and shoegaze into an intense and unpredictable live experience. What began after one particularly wild night grew into a band fully committed to energy, urgency and complete physical abandon.

With blistering guitars, pounding rhythms and a frontman who dives headfirst into the crowd, a SEXTC show never keeps its distance. Their music balances melody and chaos, control and total release, without ever sacrificing intensity.
